Winnie Osita Lwigado

Winnie is a Kenyan fashion designer, sustainability advocate and the Project Lead & Designer of Afrikala Lifestyle. With over seven years of experience in fashion production, styling and trend analysis, Winnie brings a dynamic understanding of the full fashion value chain from ethical design and retail to community mentoring and climate-conscious collections. Her work blends bold creativity with cultural depth, honouring African heritage while envisioning sustainable, inclusive and socially responsive fashion systems. Winnie’s design philosophy centres on ethical sourcing, environmental responsibility and storytelling through design, creating vibrant, expressive garments that minimise harm to people and planet.

Her grounded experience in the industry makes her a trusted mentor and advocate for emerging creatives, especially those in informal or under-supported spaces. Winnie has led and assisted in production teams at renowned fashion houses such as Rama Fashion House and Aytso Bej. She has showcased her collections on the Nairobi Street Fashion Runway. She holds a BSc. in Clothing, Textiles and Interior Design from Egerton University and continues to shape the fashion ecosystem as a designer, researcher and changemaker, building a future where fashion is a force for equity, identity and sustainability.

Marl is a multidisciplinary artist with a deep love for colour, pattern and bold designs, Marl leads the creative strategy and implementation of Afrikala Art’s sustainable fashion line with intention and heart. Her imagination flows effortlessly through sketches and carefully curated palettes, crafting clothing that speaks not just to style, but to identity and pride.

With a strong belief in the power of African heritage, Marl draws inspiration from traditional patterns, stories and the continent’s rich textile traditions to co-create garments that are both timeless and innovative. She is passionate about ethical fashion, fabric selection and the narrative power of design, ensuring every piece from Afrikala Lifestyle honours its roots while embracing contemporary sustainability. From concept to creation, Marl fuses strategy and soul to help design lifestyle pieces that are not only beautiful but meaningful, celebrating culture, boosting confidence and inspiring bold, sustainable living.
