Our SDGs
Learn more about Afrikala Art and how we take action towards five interconnected Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
At Afrikala Art, our work is deeply aligned with the global call for action set out by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We centre our efforts on five interconnected goals: SDG 1, 3, 8, 10 and 17, all rooted in advancing dignity, equity and opportunity for communities that are often overlooked.

End poverty in all its forms everywhere
We are constantly innovating and co-creating creative solutions aimed at tackling the root causes of poverty by equipping creatives and young people with the tools, opportunities and support systems to build sustainable livelihoods. From mentorship to access to income-generating creative services, we aim to help communities move from survival to self-reliance, creating pathways to financial freedom and fulfilment.

Good Health and well-being
Mental health is at the heart of everything we do. We champion SDG 3.4 by embedding mental health care and awareness in all our programmes from art therapy and counselling to sports tournaments and wellness workshops. Our goal is to reduce stigma, promote healing and save lives through creative, inclusive and community-led solutions.

Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all
We’re building a creative economy where decent work is the norm. Through capacity building, training and paid opportunities, Afrikala Art aims to support youth employment, creative enterprise development and innovation. We are working towards empowering creatives to monetise their skills and contribute to inclusive economic development across Kenya and beyond.

Reduce inequality within and among countries
From gender to geography, we are constantly working to dismantle barriers that keep people excluded. Our programmes create safe, inclusive spaces for women, girls, youth and creatives from all walks of life to express themselves, access mental health care and build sustainable careers. We champion representation and equitable access at every level.

Partnerships for the goals
Collaboration is central to our mission. We work closely with local and global partners to co-create impact, mobilise resources and share knowledge. From grassroots organisers to international donors, we believe partnerships are essential to building a more sustainable and just world, one community at a time.
